He is a 30 year veteran of the commercial real estate industry and has brokered hundreds of transactions in a wide variety of property types. In addition to working in the general commercial investment real estate area, Ilfeld is a member of Sperry Van Ness' national Asset Recovery Team (SVN-ART). SVN-ART is an alliance of Sperry Van Ness advisors with extensive background and experience in the field of special real estate assets, REO and loan workouts, entailing asset evaluation and management, property preservation, risk management, accelerated marketing, and auction, sealed bid and on-line sales. Out of over 950 Sperry Van Ness advisors nationally only approximately 75 are members of the company's select ASSET RECOVERY TEAM. During the calamitous real estate downturn in New England in the early 1990's Ilfeld developed significant distressed asset and workout experience working with the FDIC and its major subcontractor, Bank One, selling commercial real estate assets for both entities as part of the area's market turnaround process. Prior to joining Sperry Van Ness, Ilfeld owned his own commercial real estate company, Ilfeld & Co LLC, in Albuquerque. He previously served as a commercial real estate broker for Stebbins Commercial Properties in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. In the area of land sales Ilfeld achieved a significant accomplishment with the sale of a $13 million, 141 acre, mixed-use land property in Cabezon Communities, Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The property had been entitled and master planned through a partnership with a leading area developer but had previously been unsaleable due to longstanding legal entanglements. Ilfeld holds the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) and ALC (Accredited Land Consultant) designations. He is the only Accredited Land Consultant in New Mexico.He is also a member of the National Association of REALTORS (NAR), the REALTORS Land Institute (RLI), the Commercial Association of REALTORS of New Mexico (CARNM) and the Turnaround Management Association. He received his Bachelor degree in Political Science from Boston University.
