Biography
|
Joe Bob McCartt is an Amarillo native who attended both Amarillo College and West Texas State University before graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi. After returning to Amarillo, McCartt began developing commercial real estate in the local market.
Notable development projects from 1976 to 1990 include the renovation of the Paramount Building; renovation of the Atrium Plaza; the development leasing and sale of Mornings Park Row Center, a 150,000 square foot retail complex in Arlington, Texas; the construction, management of syndication of the 240-unit Timbercreek Apartment Complex in Lewisville, Texas and the additional development of 100 acres of multifamily land; development of the Ridgeview Medical Center, a 40,000 square foot office building in Amarillo, and the development, management and leasing of Lakeview Office Park, a 40,000 square foot Amarillo facility.
In 1990, McCartt joined Focus Asset Management in Dallas, securing brokerage, leasing and management assignments from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation FDIC, RTC, saving and loans and local banks. He returned to Amarillo in 1994 to work for Coldwell Banker First Equity, Realtors in commercial brokerage, where he was top producer in 1996, 1997, and 1998.
McCartt was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Real Estate Research Advisory Committee in November, 2001. The committee advises with Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University, which conducts real estate related research based on Texans’ needs.
In 2005 McCartt entered into a partnership with a 110 year old Chicago lease administration company, Scribcor Lease Administration. Together they were successful in obtaining a contract with the State of Texas to manage its 12,000,000 square foot lease portfolio. After the completion of that contract McCartt returned to Amarillo to resume building a commercial real estate services company McCartt & Associates.
McCartt & Associates became associated with Sperry Van Ness in 2008.
